“It really is the great Australian journey – the change in
landscape out the window while we travelled coast to coast
was incredible. The view went from tropical in the north,
through red desert sand in the middle and into the lush
green countryside heading into Adelaide.

We had plenty of time on the ground to explore with
all-inclusive touring at Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) and
full day touring in Alice Springs and Coober Pedy. It’s
pretty amazing to have a sumptuous sit-down lunch in the
restaurant car, then be in the outback exploring just an hour
later. Where else can you do that?”

“Spending the night in Kakadu immersed in its wildlife and
the prehistoric landscape was such a privilege. The Aboriginal
rock art is mind-blowing – it gives you a real sense of how old
this land is.

Between the wilderness of Kakadu, being spoiled onboard
The Ghan Expedition and then the beauty of Nitmiluk
(Katherine Gorge), this trip is the perfect way to start the
cross-country journey down through the Northern Territory
and beyond.

Taking the flight above Uluru is also a once-in-a-lifetime
experience that is worth adding on for the extra cost!”

“We’re into food and wine, so The Ghan Expedition already
indulged us with three multi-course meals a day, either on
board or on tour during stops, all the way from Darwin to
Adelaide. But continuing on to taste famous wines in the
Barossa and the produce on Kangaroo Island had
us in foodie heaven.

Experiencing the natural beauty of Kangaroo Island, walking
among the sea lions and hand-feeding the kangaroos, as
well as being able to explore those incredible coastlines,
made this a truly special way to end our adventure on The
Ghan Expedition.”

“How do you see so much of Australia in just 13 days?

We managed to tick off so many items on our Australian wish
list, from Kakadu to Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) and Alice
Springs, plus quirky Coober Pedy – the long table lunch
actually served underground was a real highlight.

We then kept the adventure going through the Barossa
and onto Kangaroo Island for an overnight stay – wine,
wilderness, all the iconic stops and amazing food, with
friendly service we really couldn’t fault. This is the ultimate trip!”
